As we head into the holiday season and navigate new gathering restrictions, now is a time, if ever, to engage in traditions that bring us comfort. One of the things I enjoy during advent is an advent calendar. There is much anticipation and joy in opening a new window each day as we move toward Christmas. I still remember the advent calendars I had when I was a child, hunting around for the next number on the windows, wondering what shape of chocolate I would find. Now you can get advent calendars filled with all sorts of things, chocolate, tea, jam and even beer. For the past few years I’ve been doing an Act of Kindness advent calendar. Each day I get an email with a different activity or act of kindness to do. I hope that you can embrace and maybe adapt some of the traditions you are used to, to bring comfort during advent.
